# Install on Mac

> Download Montage for Mac, put it in Applications and sign in: your videos and your account are the same as on the web.

## What you need

- A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 and later). Macs with an Intel chip are not supported for now.
- macOS.
- The internet: the app opens Montage's own pages.
- A Montage account. You can make one when you first sign in.

## Install, step by step

1. Download Montage for Mac. You get a `.dmg` file.
1. Open the `.dmg` and drag **Montage** into **Applications**.
1. Open Montage from Applications.
1. Sign in with your email, or press **Continue with Google**. Google signs you in in your browser: once it is done, your browser asks to open Montage. Say yes, then you can close the tab.

The app is signed by Montage and checked by Apple, so your Mac opens it like any app from the internet.

## The microphone

The first time you speak to Ask, your Mac asks whether Montage may use the microphone, with the line « Montage listens when you speak to Ask. » The app asks for nothing else.

## Questions

### Google sign-in says « It did not work ». What now?

Go back to the Montage app and press **Continue with Google** again. The link Google gives the app works once and only for a few minutes.

### Will Montage work on my Intel Mac?

Not for now. The app is built for Macs with Apple silicon; on an Intel Mac, use Montage on the web.

### Where does the app keep my things?

Your originals stay where they are. The small files the app makes to watch while you edit, and your export presets, stay in the app's own folder on your Mac.
