# Remove the background

> Ask Montage to cut you out of your background, with no green screen, and to put any video, picture or colour behind you.

## Remove it, step by step

1. Open your video in your browser and keep it open.
1. In **Ask**, say who to keep and what goes behind: « Remove the background behind me and put the office picture there ».
1. Montage works on your own computer's graphics card, shot by shot. This can take a while on a long video.
1. Watch it, then swap what is behind you by asking.

## What it needs

| Need | Why |
|---|---|
| Your video open in a browser window | The cut-out is made in that window. Close it and the work stops. |
| A browser that can use your graphics card | The cut-out runs on your graphics card. |
| Up to 10 minutes per run | One run of the work stops after 10 minutes. |

## Questions

### Do I need a green screen?

No. Say who to keep, in plain words: « keep the woman in the red jacket ».

### Can I put a video behind me?

Yes. Add it with **+** then **Add footage**, and ask for it behind you.
