# Music and sound

> Add your music and sounds, and Montage places them, sets how loud each one is at each moment, and keeps your voice clear.

## Add music, step by step

1. Add your music with your footage on **New video**, or in **Ask** with **+** then **Add footage** (« Videos, music or pictures »).
1. Say what you want: « music under the whole video, quieter when I speak ».
1. Montage listens to it like your footage: when a song has words, it knows them and when they are sung.
1. Watch, then ask: « louder at the end », « fade out over the last 3 seconds », or comment on the moment.

## What to ask

| A shot without its sound | « Mute the B-roll » |
| A sound effect | « The whoosh at each title » (add the sound file first) |

> Montage uses the sounds you bring. It does not make music or voices.

## Questions

### Can I use any song?

Use music you have the right to use.

### Can I change the music after?

Yes. Add another file and ask « use this music instead ».
