# Big files

> Add your footage as big as it comes. Here is how a big file goes up, what to do when the connection drops, and how much room your plan gives.

## How a big file goes up

Your file is sent in small pieces, several at a time. Its row shows how much is up, measured: « 1.2 of 4.8 GB ». Once it is all up, Montage prepares it, and you can leave the page.

> **Keep the page open while it uploads.** If you try to leave while a file is going up, Montage asks first.

## When the connection drops

1. The row says « Upload stopped at 42% · the connection dropped, nothing is lost ».
1. Press **Resume**. The upload starts again from the pieces already up.
1. The row says « picked up where it stopped » while it finishes.

If the page was closed or reloaded during an upload, the file says « The upload was cut. Drop the file again. »

## How much room you have

| Plan | Footage space |
|---|---|
| Free | 2.5 GB |
| Plus | 50 GB |
| Pro | 125 GB |
| Max | 250 GB |
| Ultra | 500 GB |

Only the files you bring count, at their own size. The copies Montage makes of them do not.

When your space is full, a new file says « Not added · your space is full ». Delete footage you no longer need, then add these again. [Delete footage](/docs/footage/delete).

## Very big files: the Mac app

With the app, your originals never go up: the app prepares them on your computer and sends only the small file to watch while you edit. [On the web and on Mac](/docs/start/web-mac-windows).

## Questions

### Is there a size limit for one file?

No limit of its own: a file goes in as long as your workspace has space left.

### How long will it take?

It depends on your connection. The row shows what is up and what is left, as it goes.

### Can I add several big files at once?

Yes. Drop them all: two go up at a time, the others wait their turn.
