## Delete a video and its footage

When you delete a video from your videos, its window asks whether to **Delete its footage too**. Ticked, it says which files leave Media and which stay because another video uses them.

## What deleting does

- The file leaves Media for everyone in the workspace.
- Everything Montage keeps of it is deleted: your original if it was added on the web, and every file made from it.
- A video that used it loses it.
- Its size is given back to your footage space.

> There is no bin to bring a file back. To use it again, add it again.

## Questions

### Does deleting a file in Media delete it from my computer?

No. Montage deletes what it keeps in your account. A file on your computer stays where it is.

### Can anyone in my workspace delete my footage?

Yes. Media belongs to the whole workspace: anyone in it can delete a file, and it goes for everyone.

### Taking a file off a new video, is that deleting it?

No. The × on a file's row in New video only takes it off this video; it stays in Media.
