# What is Montage

> Montage is a video editor you talk to: you add your footage, say what video you want, and the AI makes it. Then you watch it, comment on the picture, ask for changes and export.

## How it works

1. **Add your footage.** Videos, music, pictures, as they come off your phone or camera.
1. **Describe the video.** In your own words, like you would to an editor, then press **Make my video**.
1. **Watch and ask.** The video plays beside the conversation. Ask for a change in **Ask**, or click the picture to leave a comment on it.
1. **Export.** Press **Export** at the top of the video and take your file.

## Where Montage runs

In your browser at `app.getmontage.ai`, on a computer or on a phone. There is also an app for Mac, which works from the files on your computer and exports with its video chip. [What each one does](/docs/start/web-mac-windows).

> Every change the AI makes is a line in the video's **History**. You can go back to any line.

## Questions

### Do I need to know how to edit?

No. You say what you want in plain words, and Montage does the editing. You never see a timeline.

### Is it free?

You start with 10 free credits, enough for one video, exported with a small Montage mark. A plan gives credits every month and removes the mark.

### Who do I ask when something goes wrong?

Our support. Press **Contact support**, bottom left of the app (in the menu on a phone).
