Updates

Montage's screens update by themselves every time you open the app; the app around them gets new versions through a card that asks you to restart.

Two kinds of update

What How it updates
Montage’s screens: editing, the AI, comments, plans The app opens Montage’s own pages, so they are always the latest, as on the web.
The app itself: reading your originals, the export on your computer A new version is downloaded in the background, then you restart.

When a new version is ready

  1. The app looks for a new version when it opens, then every 4 hours.
  2. Once one is downloaded, a card appears at the foot of the sidebar: « A new version of Montage. It is ready. Restart to use it. »
  3. Press Restart. Montage closes and opens again on the new version.

The card never shows while a video is being made or saved to your account.

Questions

Do I lose anything when I restart to update?

No. Your videos are in your account and your originals stay where they are; videos still being saved to your account carry on the next time the app opens.

What if I never press Restart?

The new version is used the next time you open Montage. Montage’s screens always follow the web, so they cannot be held back.
