A text (a script, notes) TXT, MD Text

A look, a font or a text is kept as it is: Montage reads it when you ask for it in a video. « Use my font for the titles. »

What Montage does with a video

You never convert anything first. Montage prepares every video the same way, whatever it was:

  • It stays at its own size.
  • HDR footage (an iPhone’s default) is turned into normal colours for watching.
  • It is turned upright, the way the phone was held.
  • Its sound is made stereo. A surround track is mixed down to two channels.

Your original is kept as it is. Where your originals are kept.

When a file can’t be read

If even Montage cannot open a file, its row says Can’t be opened: « This file is damaged or isn’t a video ». In Media it says « This video couldn’t be read. Try another copy of this video. » Press Try again, or Contact support: we see the file’s name.

Questions

Can I add ProRes or camera files?

Yes. ProRes MOV, MXF and MTS files go in as they are, and Montage prepares them.

I added the same file twice. Does it take twice the space?

No. The same file (same name, same size) brought again is the one you already have: nothing is sent, and its row says « from your media ».

Can I add a PDF or a Word file?

No. Only the files in the table above.
