What a style is

A style is how your videos look, written in words: Montage reads it and edits your video that way. Here is what is inside one, and how to use it.

A style is words, not a picture

A style is a small folder in your Library. Its main page, SKILL.md, says:

Part What it says
Its name What the Library shows on its card
One line What it is for, under the name
Its rules The look in words: the pace, the cuts, the captions, the fonts, the colours

A style can also hold longer pages it points to, and name things it uses: a component of your Library, or your own files, such as a logo or a font.

Make a style

  1. Open a video whose look you like.
  2. Ask: « Make this a style ».
  3. Montage writes the style and keeps it in your Library, under Styles, for your whole team.

Use a style

  1. In Library, open the style’s card: you read its name, its line and its rules.
  2. Press Use this style. New video opens with the style picked and « Make a video in the … style. » written for you.
  3. Or, in any box you write in, press +, then From the Library, and pick it.

One style at a time. Picking another style replaces the first. You can add as many components as you like.

Questions

Can I change a style?

Ask Montage in a video, for example « In our style, make the captions bigger ». It rewrites the style in your Library.

It leaves the Library. Videos that use it keep their own copy.

Who sees my styles?

Everyone in your workspace: the Library is the team’s.
