How agents use Montage
Connect your own AI (Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex…) to Montage's MCP server, and it makes and exports videos with your workspace's footage, Library and credits.
What your AI can do
- List your videos, or create a new one (tall, square or wide).
- Bring footage in: from a web address, from the computer it runs on, or from your own computer through the Mac app, where your original never leaves the computer.
- Edit the video with the same tools as Montage’s own AI: it reads and writes the video’s files, and each change is a version you see at once in Montage.
- Read the comments people left on the video.
- Export: made by Montage (MP4, the sound alone, or a ZIP for Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve), or made by your Mac app from your originals, with every setting.
The whole list, with every option: Every tool.
How it connects
- In Montage, open the workspace menu and pick MCP. Copy the Server URL:
https://app.getmontage.ai/mcp. - Add it to your AI as a remote MCP server (one page per AI below).
- Sign in: your AI asks to use Montage, Montage shows which AI and where its access goes, you press Allow.
- Ask it for a video.
On the Pro plan and above. Pro, Max and Ultra include the MCP server. Pro is $50 a month, with 300 credits. On Free or Plus, every tool answers that MCP is on the Pro plan and above, with the link to change plan.
Questions
Which workspace does my AI work in?
The first workspace you joined, the one Montage opens on.
Does my AI use my credits?
Yes: Montage’s MCP page says it works with the workspace’s footage, Library and credits.
Does my AI’s export carry the Montage mark?
Only on the Free plan, as in the app. But MCP needs Pro or above, so in practice your AI’s exports have no mark.
